8 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
4 tbsp Noshejan Bacio Italiano
1 egg
3/4 cup flour
Oil for frying
2 26 oz pkgs finely diced tomatoes in juice
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1 lb spaghetti
Zest of one lemon
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook until lightly caramelized about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Combine half of the cooked onions, beef, pork, half of the garlic, 1/4 cup Parmesan, 2 tbsp Noshejan Bacio Italiano, and egg in a large mixing bowl. Mix by hand until well combined.
Roll the meat mixture into 1 1/2" meatballs. Roll each meatball in the flour, dust off excess, and set aside.
Fill a large skillet with oil enough to coat the bottom. Heat on medium-high heat. Working in batches to avoid crowding, cook each meatball for 7-10 minutes, turning frequently to brown all sides. Set aside.
Add 2 tbsp oil in a pot and heat over medium-high heat. Return the remaining cooked onions. Add the remaining garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes and the remaining Noshejan Bacio Italiano. Bring to a simmer and add half of the basil.
Add the meatballs and any juices to the sauce. Cover, reduce heat to medium, and cook for 30 minutes, rotating the meatballs occasionally.
In a large pot of boiling water, cook pasta according to package instructions.
Add cooked pasta to the pasta sauce and meatballs.
Garnish with remaining Parmesan, basil, and lemon zest.
